Obama library could boost tourism

A recent study by Anderson Economic Group LLC, commissioned by the University of Chicago, estimated the annual economic impact for the library to the city would be $220 million, including 1,900 permanent new jobs, according to the group’s website. The study estimates that the library would draw 800,000 visitors each year, about half from outside the Chicago area, it said. Those visitors would spend another $31 million on food and retail in the surrounding neighborhoods, enough to support 30 new restaurants, 11 new retail outlets and a new hotel, it said.
