Economic Impact Report Released for Illinois’ Fermilab

An Anderson Economic Group study on the economic impact of Fermilab was released today, demonstrating a significant impact on the particle physics and accelerator laboratory’s home state of Illinois.

The findings, based on FY 2018 data, show an economic impact on the state totaling $452 million. The lab’s activities also created over 5,300 jobs in Illinois, and increased state household earnings by almost $343 million. As stated in the report’s release, “As each dollar spent by Fermilab and its visitors enters the economy, it supports additional business activity, jobs and payroll across the state, leading to even bigger economic benefits.”
