Business Economics Toolbox, rev. 2.3; September 2005. Book Purchaser License Information Entire toolbox (c) 2003, 2004, 2005 Anderson Economic Group LLC 1555 Watertower PL, 100, East Lansing Michigan 48823 http://www.andersoneconomicgroup.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Restricted License for Book Purchasers This copy of the Business Economics toolbox is licensed solely for the use of purchasers of the book "Business Economics and Finance" by Patrick L. Anderson, published by CRC Press in 2004, ISBN 1-58488-348-0. The license extends to the use of a single user on a single machine. Individuals that wish to use the toolbox on a webserver available to many users should contact the copyright owner to obtain an expanded-use license. The book can be purchased directly from the publisher at: http://www.crcpress.com, or from other sellers such as Amazon.com, Borders.com, and BN.com. Use the ISBN or complete title to order. A "purchaser of the book" is an individual purchaser of an individual copy. Renting the book from a library, or reading a (possibly illegal) photocopy of a chapter or two, does not qualify. Having your organization buy one copy does not allow for ten copies of the toolbox to be used. The author asks that each user of the toolbox purchase a copy of the book. The toolbox may not be transmitted to non-licensed parties or used in derivative works (such as using portions of the code in other programs) without prior permission from Anderson Economic Group LLC. 2. NO WARRANTY FOR MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS We provide no warranty for this toolbox, and advise that it may contain errors or ommissions. It will be modified by the author from time to time. The code in the toolbox, therefore, will vary from the text shown in the "code fragments" sections of the book. 3. Registration; Notification of Major Revisions Although we intend to provide news and notes on the AEG website, modifications of the toolbox may occur without notice. To help us to track the geographic dispersion of users, and allow for us to communicate with a user community when a major revision occurs, we ask that users send us a registration email with their name; town, state or province, and country; and email address. Send to: toolbox@andersoneconomicgroup.com 3a. Bug Reports and Comments; Web Site Bug reports, comments, and suggested revisions should be mailed to Patrick Anderson at the above address, or emailed to: toolbox@andersoneconomicgroup.com. Please indicate the version of your toolbox, and the time and place you purchased the book. It is the author's intention to periodically publish and update a list of bugs, revisions, and notes on the AEG web site at: http://www.andersoneconomicgroup.com. 3b. No Support Provided Licensed users that have purchased a copy of the book should refer to the description in the book of various script and function files here. As the toolbox is updated, the files here will differ from the code fragments shown in the book. Note that the "code fragments" in the book are just that, fragments of code designed to demonstrate certain things. Many are not complete programs. The author and publisher do not offer support, help desk services, or counseling on the use of the programs, aside from the text in the book itself and any information available on the book web site. 4. Charge for Use; Penalty Charges There is, at the time of the book's release (August 2004), and at the time of this revision, no charge to purchasers of the book to download and use this toolbox in a manner consistent with the license. The charge for use consistent with the license, though without purchasing a copy of the book, is $500 per machine, plus any costs of collection. The author suggests you buy a copy of the book for about $80 and save the difference. The penalty for illegal use of the toolbox is $5000 per individual machine per year, or $50,000 per webserver use per year, plus costs of collection. The author suggests that a cheaper and less risky option is to buy the book and negotiate a license. 5. Expiration of License This license expires on August 1, 2010. Individual users may continue their use for noncommercial purposes after that. A newer version of the toolbox should be available well before that time. 6. License Information Must Accompany Toolbox This information must accompany any copy of the toolbox. 7. Unzipping Toolbox for Licensed Users The zip file containing the toolbox code has a password. The password is the 13th word on the first line of the dedication of the book. Hint: It is a word beginning with the letter "f" and ending with the letter "s." The password will be changed from time to time, to another word in the book. Possession of the password is not equivalent to being licensed. 8. Acceptance of license; Deemed Acceptance If you do not accept the terms of this license, please destroy any copies of the toolbox in your possession. If you use the toolbox or transfer it to another party that uses the toolbox, you are deemed to have read, understood, and accepted the license. We note that this license is about 100% cheaper, and about 1/10 the length, of most software licenses, so please be respectful of the author and abide by the license.
